Cayo Arena

CAYO ARENA PUERTO PLATA

How to get there

Imbert-Luperon highway, travel approximately 15 kilometers and reach the town of the Strait. From that point, take the Ranchito-Punta Rucia highway. After traveling approximately 47 kilometers you will arrive at Punta Rucia and then you will take a 15-minute boat trip, where you will find Cayo Arena.

Playa la Ensenada 

Although it is a couple of hours from the city of Puerto Plata, you can enjoy the Dominican culture by driving down the road and through some towns to arrive and enjoy its crystal-clear turquoise waters. It is characterized by being visited by the local public. Here you can find different typical restaurants (beach bars), in which you can taste seafood and fresh fish while you soak your feet in the water.  

PLAYA LA ENSENADA PUERTO PLATA

How to get there

Imbert-Luperón highway, travel approximately 15 kilometers and reach the town of El Estrecho. From that point, take the Ranchito-Punta Rusia highway. After traveling approximately 45 kilometers you will arrive at Playa La Ensenada. Yes, Playa la Ensenada and Cayo Arena are in the same town.

Playa Sosua

Known for its fun with many bars, restaurants, and craft shops. Ideal for lovers of diving and snorkeling, with a wonderful and diverse maritime forest.

Sosua Beach

How to get there

Highway Puerto Plata-Sosua, travel approximately 24 kilometers to Playa Sosua. It can be accessed from two places: 1- Entrance through the Charamico Neighborhood, 2- Through the Batey, which by the way is my favorite.

Playa Alicia Sosua

In the center of the Batey, in Sosua, is Playa Alicia. This is one of the most recent beaches in the Dominican Republic, formed in 2003 by the displacement of the sand towards that place. Known as the "miraculous beach", it has El Parque Mirador and restaurants. It is an excellent place to take a delicious bath, swim calmly and enjoy the most impressive sunsets.

How to get there

Puerto Plata-Sosua highway, travel approximately 25 kilometers to Playa Alicia, accessing through the dead-end street.

Playa Cabarete

It is a world reference in wind and sail water sports and activities, located in the center of the town of Cabarete, ideal for surfing, windsurfing, kitesurfing and Stand-Up Paddleboarding. With its more than 3 kilometers of beach you will have plenty of space to swim and relax. It also has a wide variety of bars, restaurants and shops that turn into an adventure of magical nights at night.

CABARETE BEACH

How to get there

Puerto Plata-Sosua-Cabarete Highway, travel approximately 37 kilometers to Cabarete Beach, located on the same highway.

Playa Dorada

Ten minutes east of the Historic Center of Puerto Plata, this reef-protected beach, located within the Playa Dorada tourist complex, has some sections certified with the blue flag. In it you can enjoy water activities, snorkeling, kayaking, windsurfing, diving, and Stand-Up Paddle Boarding.

Carretera Puerto Plata-Sosua-, travel approximately 7 kilometers to Playa Dorada, at the main entrance you can obtain information on the different accesses. 

Playa Cosita Rica

Located on the boardwalk of Puerto Plata with an impressive view of the Atlantic Ocean; sometimes there are sections that are used for water sports, since its waves at times adapt to this type of activity.

On General Gregorio Luperón Avenue, in the very center of the city of Puerto Plata; ideal for those who arrive through the Taino Bay cruise port and those who are staying in the city of Puerto Plata, because in less than 5 minutes they will arrive on foot.

Playa Long Beach

Like Cosita Rica, it is located on the Puerto Plata boardwalk. It is the longest beach on the boardwalk with amazing views of the Atlantic Ocean. Ideal for a delicious and more relaxed bath.

About 100 meters from Cosita rica, on General Gregorio Luperon Avenue, in the very center of the city of Puerto Plata; ideal for those who arrive through the Taino Bay cruise port and those who are staying in the city of Puerto Plata, because in less than 5 minutes’ walk you will get there.

Playa Teco

Playa Teco is in the Maimon Bay. It is a paradisiacal beach with abundant vegetation in its surroundings, corals, crystal clear water and with beautiful views of its mountains around the bay.

Puerto Plata-Maimon highway, travel approximately 14 kilometers to the community of Maimon. At this point within 5 minutes, you will arrive at Playa Teco. Ideal for those arriving through the Ambar Cove Cruise Port, as the journey will take approximately 5 minutes’ drive.

Playa grande Luperon

With incredible natural conditions, where stands out its impressive sand dunes or the tropical vegetation in its surrounding. Ideal to enjoy in tranquility and crystal-clear waters with an incredible view.

Puerto Plata-Imbert highway, travel approximately 24 kilometers to the Imbert-Luperon highway, then travel approximately 26 kilometers until you reach Playa Grande, Luperón.
